Board Development training with Kay Sprinkel Grace

In a full day workshop, including lunch, Kay will gracefully take board members and the executive staff that they work with through a process that inspires them to understand their role in the organization; how they must serve as a steward of the mission of their org; and how they can approach their important role of bringing in much needed resources to the org. Kay has 40+ years of experience in doing this work with huge successes in what can seem to be an overwhelming task.

This is an Accounting class that will explain terms and processes for the business management of artists and small arts organizations. The class will include Accounting Theory and the Bookkeeping process. This workshop will give artists and arts organizations business tools to help them manage and grow their business. Presenter Info:  Cristina Lopez, Chief Executive Officer of Lopez Iwata and Associates Lopez Iwata and Associates is a Financial Accounting and Bookkeeping firm focused on helping small businesses grow and become sustainable. Cristina has taught bookkeeping classes for the Small Business Development Center and works with a variety of artistic clientele from Performance Artists to Fine Artists.

Where’s the Money Symposium - Year 2
WTM was held on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at KVIE, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
The arts funding symposium brought to Sacramento top research and strategies to develop long term success right now. There were great conversations discussing the newest trends and resources available to arts organizations.

Private Money/ Public Art
This informative panel discussion was held on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Crest Theatre, 5:00-6:30p.m. Art in Public Places Director, Shelly Willis moderated a discussion with Sacramento developers about art in commercial development projects. Panelists included developers Mike Heller, Ellen Warner and, Ali Youssefi.

Opening Reception of Robert T. Matsui Gallery
The Opening reception was held at the gallery on March 8th, but please come by to view the exhibition, “Home Works” by Benjamin Hunt during City Hall public hours. The exhibit will be up through June 30, 2012.

Poet's Party
This amazing party for Sacramento's poetry community was held on Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Crocker Art Museum, followed by a reception. The Arts Commission announced the opening of the application for Poet Laureate. The deadline to apply is May 21, 2012.

Fusing Arts, Culture and Social Change: High Impact Strategies for Philanthropy
A dynamic presentation by Holly Sidford of Helicon Collaborative and a discussion on today’s philanthropic climate and social change, and how it relates to Sacramento was held Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Crocker Art Museum.
