Public Meetings
Per the "Brown Act", all the meetings of the Arts Commission and its committees are open meetings. The public is welcome to attend. Due to the possibility of last minute changes in times or locations, please check the agenda or call the office at (916) 808-3992 to confirm any particular date, time, and location of the meeting.
Meeting agendas and minutes for the current year are available on this site. Agendas are typically posted 72 hours in advance of a meeting and minutes are posted after approval in the following month’s meeting. You may address/speak to the Commission during the meeting by submitting an appropriately completed speaker slip, found in the meeting room.
The Arts Commission typically meets at 2:00 pm on the second Monday of the month at New City Hall Council Chambers, 915 I Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. Once per quarter (4 times a year) the Arts Commission meets at 6:00 pm on the second Monday of the month. The location of evening meetings varies. Please check the agenda to confirm the location each month.
The Arts Commission has three standing Committees--comprised of Arts Commissioners--that meet as needed. Please check the agendas to confirm the meeting location.
The Arts Commission strives to ensure a fair and transparent review process. Although there are slight differences in procedure across program areas, each application submitted to the Arts Commission is reviewed by a panel of arts professionals and community members who are exceptionally proficient in their field. All Arts Commission panels are open to the public. Applicants and members of the public in attendance may not speak during the panel’s deliberations unless invited to do so.
